Monoprinting

Monoprinting

Monoprints produced in David Holah’s class at City Lit. Not thinking too much about colours or placement of stencils, being intuitive and just seeing which colours go together. I am drawn again and again to pink, lime green and turquoise.

I really liked this technique, the pink and grey prints were made by rolling up an acetate plate with coloured oil based inks. These colours were then distrupted with paraffin and oil to create a textured background. Sections of prints and textured wall paper ripped or cut and placed face up on top of the plate. This was then put through the press and printed. The oil based ink from the ripped fragments is slow to dry and is offset onto the clean sheet of paper when printed.
